Abstract
Posterior capsular opacification (PCO) and anterior hyaloid face opacification are the two possible causes of visual axis opacification after cataract surgery, of which PCO is more common in adults. This is treated by neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd:YAG) laser-assisted disruption of the opacified posterior capsule/membrane. Recurrence of visual axis opacification after a successful Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy is infrequent. We report a case of visual axis reopacification after a successful Nd:YAG capsulotomy for PCO in an adult with no history of systemic or ocular disease who underwent phacoemulsification and an acrylic hydrophobic intraocular lens implantation. Patients should be explained about this possibility when undergoing Nd:YAG capsulotomy.
