Abstract

J. Michael Moore, in his article “Film, Slide and Filmstrip Jungle”, in the May 1970 issue of the Modern Language Journal, is highly critical of the lack of information available to foreign language teachers about films, slides and filmstrips. He feels that little, if any, of the material has been evaluated, appraised and tabulated. The Grade 1 3 Russian syllabus (1968) issued by the Ontario Department of Education lists records and film distributors. What about filmstrips and slides, and more important, what are their characteristics and relevance? The following will be an attempt to list and evaluate those filmstrips and slides which have been used in the classroom and appear to be currently available. (For further descriptions and information check the Collet's, Budek, and Life catalogues).
