Abstract

A central problem for empirical research on visual aesthetics is the lack of standardized instruments to assess aesthetic experiences. This is partly due to the fact that only little empirical knowledge exists about the nature and relevance of different facets of aesthetic experience. One of the few studies in this field was conducted by Jacobsen et al. (2004), who asked participants to write down words that could be used to describe the aesthetics of objects.
