Abstract

This paper describes initial work carried out to advance the use of vision metrology and three dimensional visualization techniques in structural testing and monitoring. A description is given of a methodology for semi‐automatically generating dynamic three dimensional computer graphics models, which is employed to provide a three dimensional spatial framework for conventional engineering instrumentation. The use of techniques developed for two structural measurement applications is explained and opportunities for current and future research are reported.
