Abstract

One of the major challenges currently facing mankind is the control of chronic degenerative diseases (CDD). It is possible to establish its study based on three stages: prodromal, state and multiple organ damage-death. The most important pathophysiological mechanisms present in the majority of these diseases are summarized in the RIA (free radicals-oxidative stress, chronic low-grade inflammation-autoimmunity and apoptosis) triad. These processes within Traditional Chinese Medicine are contextualized in two aspects; pathogenic energy Xie Qi resulting from alterations energy dynamics, the presence of latent energy Fu Qi (fire), Yin deficiency and the counterparty the complex Jing essential energy Zheng Qi. Those drugs of Traditional Chinese herbal medicine, as well as the energy points with properties to reinforce this complex, have proven to be useful in controlling CDDs in a holistic manner.
