Abstract

We propose what we believe to be a new monostatic coherent transceiver at visible wavelength using a commercially available lithium niobate (LiNbO3) phase modulator (LNPM), which is capable of high-speed, wide-bandwidth, and multi-functional operation. The proposed coherent transceiver needs successful heterodyne detection with independent second harmonic generation (SHG) on transmitted and local lights. Experimental proof of the above-mentioned heterodyne detection is shown. The proof of concept for the application to continuous-waves coherent Doppler lidar (CW-CDL) is shown in both free-space and underwater sensing. Preliminary experiment regarding high-speed and wide-bandwidth modulation is additionally shown.
