Abstract

A Raman microprobe has been modified to function as a visible microspectrometer by the addition of an area-defining aperture and several neutral-density filters. The system enables visible absorbance spectra to be obtained on samples whose size is as small as ten micrometers in diameter. Several examples are presented which illustrate the capabilities and limitations of the modified system.
