Abstract

A viscous shock layer analysis of thermochemical nonequilibrium flows over a blunt body is carried out using a three-temperature model, in which translational-rotational, vibrational, and electron temperatures are considered. The result is compared with the result for a two-temperature (translational-rotational and vibrational-electron temperatures) model. Two limiting cases of the wall boundary condition for vibrational temperature are treated in this analysis to investigate the effects of the wall condition on other temperatures and wall heat flux.
