Abstract

The magnet ohydro dynamic surface wave propagation on a single magnetic interface in a cold plasma is considered. The ion viscosity is taken into account. The dispersion equation is obtained and investigated in the low-frequency approximation. The equation governing the evolution of small-amplitude nonlinear waves is derived. It is shown on the basis of a numerical solution of this equation, that at the limit of small viscosity the damping distance of nonlinear wave is independent of the viscosity. An asymptotic formula for the damping distance in the limit of small viscosity is derived. This formula shows that for typical coronal conditions the nonlinearity effect can decrease the wave damping distance as much as ten times in comparison with the results given by the linear theory.
