Abstract

At high solids concentration, the viscosity of suspensions is mainly governed by the proximity to maximum packing condition. Accordingly, a traditional way of lowering viscosity is to increase the maximum packing fraction by optimizing the particle size distribution, on condition that a good state of dispersion is achieved. So doing, high solids loadings can be achieved, being the suspension still processable.
