Abstract

The dynamic viscosity modeling of nine oxygenated fuels (diethyl ether, diisopropyl ether, dibutyl ether, dimethoxymethane, 1,2-dimethoxyethane, diethylene glycol dimethyl ether, dimethyl carbonate, diethyl carbonate and diethyl adipate) was presented with several representative models. The evaluated viscosity models range from empirical model, semi-empirical model such as residual viscosity, to models with strong physical background such as hard-sphere scheme and free-volume viscosity model. The evaluation results indicated that the Assael five parameters model has the best performance for the studied fluid. Similar to the hard-sphere, free-volume model has a physical and theoretical background and related to characteristic parameters, making this model totally predictive for the dense fluid.
