Abstract
Dielectric viscosity and switching processes were studied experimentally in mixed ferroelectric-ferroelastic barium titanate BaTiO3 crystals in both mechanically stressed and unstressed states. In unstressed crystals the dielectric viscosity coefficient β independent of external field may be used to characterize the material similarly to pure ferroelectrics, while mechanical stresses result in deviations from linear relation between the relaxation time and inverse field.
