Abstract

The present work investigates the viscoelasticity–viscoplasticity transition in Zn–Al eutectoid alloy studied by internal friction (IF). The IF of the Zn–Al eutectoid alloy was measured using a multifunction internal friction apparatus at low frequencies and at constant temperatures, stepwise changed in the temperature range of −100 °C up to 50 °C. The variations of the IF–frequency spectrum with frequency and temperature are interpreted by different mechanical models. It is found that the temperature −60 °C corresponds to a viscoelasticity–viscoplasticity transition in Zn–Al eutectoid alloy when the measuring frequency is close to zero. The objective of this paper is to provide an overview of the viscoelasticity–viscoplasticity transition in Zn–Al eutectoid alloy.
