Abstract

The influence of the material creep on the stability and vibration characteristics of axially compressed structural elements is investigated by means of a simplified rheological model. The stability and the vibration characteristics are illustrated, respectively, by the equilibrium paths along the creep process and the natural frequencies corresponding to each equilibrium configuration. The results obtained contribute to a better understanding of the behavior of structural elements under compressible loading, taking into account the time-dependent characteristics of the material.
