Abstract

Coupling non-Newtonian viscous fingering with an interfacial precipitation reaction leads to strong departure from diffusion-limited growth conditions. The hardening of the interface enhances the fingering phenomenon but suppresses the branching process, leading to a new type of pattern with simple radiating or comb-like geometry.
