Abstract

Virus-like particles of approximately 100 mtx were observed in plasma pellets prepared from birds with Marek's disease but were not seen in such pellets from uninfected birds. Bioassay showed that plasma pellets containing virus-like particles were infectious whereas pellets from uninfected birds were not. Lymphocytes from infected birds contained particles in cytoplasmic vacuoles which were similar in morphology to those observed in plasma preparations.
