Abstract

Let R be a ring and p a prime integer. R is said to be p-shaped if R has an identity, is finitely generated, and has an ideal I of p-power index such that I is residually-nilpotent- p. It is shown that if R is p-shaped, and G is a finitely generated, virtually-residually- p group, then the group of automorphisms Aut RG of the group ring RG is virtually-residually- p.
