Abstract

This paper presents a new control method to enhance the transient stability of power system with a large Wind Farm (WF) connected to another power system via a High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission line. The stabilizing control is performed by the power flow control of HVDC transmission line, in which a PID fuzzy logic controller is adopted to achieve superior control performances and designed based on the Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG) control method. In the proposed VSG control method, effects of the damping, synchronization, and inertia of the power system are simulated respectively by using proportional, integral and derivative control of the system frequency. Effectiveness of the presented VSG control system has been analyzed through simulation analysis by using PSCAD /EMTDC software. Results of the simulation show that the presented new VSG control method is very effective for enhancing the transient stability of the power system.
