Abstract
Indications for the scapular flap in head and neck reconstruction has been described previously.1 Use of virtual surgical planning (VSP) is increasing,2 leading to reduced operating time, greater accuracy, and improved aesthetic/functional outcomes.3 However, there are as yet no reports describing the use of VSP in scapular free flaps (based on the circumflex scapular vessels). Additionally, use of a ‘bone-only’ scapular flap has not, to our knowledge, been described previously. We describe the use of VSP in two cases in which scapular free flaps were used to reconstruct mandibular defects.
