Abstract

Background: Pelvic floor muscles (PFM) can be trained to improve the awareness of the pelvic floor, which is based on learning and perception of the musculature, through repetitive voluntary contractions, obtaining more strength and resistance, allowing an increase in the capacity of contraction reflex and voluntary. Aims: To compare the quality of sexual life and pelvic floor muscle awareness, pre and post-intervention with virtual reality associated with electromyographic Biofeedback of six physical therapy students. Results: The convenience sample assessed the pelvic floor and responded to the Female Sexual Quotient (QS-F), digital and electromyographic assessment of the pelvic floor and a protocol of 9 sessions of virtual reality through game therapy, in order to provide feedback immediate performance in the patient's contraction, motivation, cognitive and motor skills. After the intervention, there was an improvement in the rapid contraction with a significance of p=0.035 and the QFS with a significance of p=0.022. Conclusion: PFM treatment through virtual reality proved to be effective in improving pelvic floor muscle awareness and in the participants' sexual life.
