Abstract

This paper presents virtual flux based model predictive direct power control (VF-MPDPC) strategy to control the three-phase three-level NPC PWM rectifier. In this strategy all equations for calculating and predicting instantaneous active and reactive powers values are based on mains virtual flux vector. The mains virtual flux vector is estimated by a first order low pass filter. The major aim of this strategy is to improve the robustness of conventional model predictive control against mains harmonics condition. It also provides unity power factor, low input current THD under mains harmonics conditions, accurate DC bus voltage and controlling the active and reactive powers flow. The proposed VF-MPDPC is verified by MATLAB/Simulink tools.
