Abstract

The scattering of quasiparticles from the nonmagnetic impurity has been studied, using the t-matrix approximation, in the case of a two-dimensional d-waves pairing superconductor with a van Hove density of states. We showed the occurrence of a virtual bound state which becomes marginally bound for strong and weak scattering. A critical value for the scattering potential has been calculated for the transition between the two limits.
