Abstract

This paper presents the <tex>$8\times 8$</tex> multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel measurement system covering the whole band of 220 GHz to 325 GHz. The line-of-sight (LOS) single-input single-output (SISO) channel was measured at different distances, based on which the cause of MPCs is analyzed. And in subsequent MIMO channel measurements, absorbing materials were used to reduce the reflection leading to multipath components (MPCs). To study the effect of human hand blocking on the channel gain, line of sight and obstructed line of sight (OLOS) measurements were performed with <tex>$8\times 8$</tex> virtual antenna arrays in the laboratory room. Finally, we show that the human hand blocking can cause about 20dB attenuation in THz LOS-MIMO communication system.
