Abstract
Three distinct etiologic agents are responsible for viral hepatitis: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and non-A/non-B hepatitis virus. Recent advances have served to differentiate more fully their immunologic, virologic, and epidemiologic characteristics. Although the clinical features of hepatitis are easily identified, unusual presentations, especially those involving extrahepatic sites, may thwart the establishment of a correct diagnosis.
