Abstract

This present paper seeks to develop an initial analysis on the comic female character Violencia Rivas, from a gender perspective. The character chosen, played by the comedian actor Diego Capusotto in his contemporary TV show Peter Capusotto y sus videos is the core object of analysis on which I will reflect upon some key questions that will guide the inquiry for this paper: how can a character from the 60s inspire a diametrically opposed version in 2010; what kind of added-value is given to this long term parody; how is the fictional and the real character placed with regard to the social and moral values as well as to the feminine demands; what are the implications of the grotesque quality acquired by the character when played by a maletransvestite performer? Bearing in mind these questions, the present paper will aim to focus on the aesthetic mechanisms of the humour resources such as parody, satire and irony because it is in this field of research I have been working in.
