Abstract

This study aims to understand the legal principles that ensure the fundamental rights of people with disabilities, recognizing the characteristics related to sexuality and the violations resulting from sexual abuse. Sexuality is part of human life, regardless of whether or not they have some type of disability. There are studies showing that many believe that the person who has a disability is asexual, which means that there is sexual orientation deprivation in school spaces and in their family context. Persons with disabilities often end up being victims of sexual violence and abuse and do not know how to distinguish an act of affection from an act of abuse due to deprivation of education/guidance in this area. The limitation cannot be an obstacle for the disabled person to obtain sex education, in this sense adaptations are necessary and the education professional is a very important subject in this process of sexual orientation. Thus, this bibliographical study approaches aspects of the rights of people with disabilities, how the disabled person and sexuality are seen and how the school can be a collaborator in this process of sexual education and information.
