Abstract
Alcohols and amines react with silyl vinyl ketenes to give esters and amides. Ynamines undergo a primary competing addition across the ketene CC and the ketene CO bond. A sequence of cycloaddition and ring-opening reactions finally leads to bicyclo[3.1.0]hexenones, cyclohexadienones and allenic amides.
