Abstract

The Wakhan corridor in Afghanistan is an ancient and lively frontier zone that illustrates many aspects of colonialism, both traditional (such as the 19th century “Great Game” between the British and Russian empires) and in its contemporary form of neocolonialism, in which is involved the “wonderful world” of humanitarian action, however persuasively it denies the fact.
