Abstract

AbstractThe Bahamas | Vik Nair is President and Professor (Sustainable Tourism), at DISTED College, Penang, Malaysia, having previously served as Dean of Graduate Studies and Research and Professor in Sustainable Tourism at the University of The Bahamas (UB). A programme Leader for the Responsible Rural Tourism Network, he is also a consultant with many national and international projects in South-East Asia and the Caribbean. A well sought-after keynote speaker, his exceptional research achievements with more than 350 publications to his credit has earned him many international and national accolades. Vik successfully led a team to write the country report for The Bahamas for UNDP’s Sustainable Development Goals in 2017. He is currently working on numerous consultancy projects in The Bahamas with Tourism Development Corporation and the Department of Environmental Planning and Protection in developing community-based tourism and ecotourism. His research specialisation is in sustainable and responsible tourism, rural tourism, ecotourism management, environmental management, community-based tourism and green tourism.
