Abstract

Hemifacial spasm (HFS) is a relatively rare disorder whose aetiopathogenetic mechanisms are still not completely understood [1, 4]. Nevertheless, the concept of microvascular compression as the main cause of HFS has achieved widespread acceptance in the past 20 years, and microvascular decompression (MVD) has been found to be a very effective treatment [2, 3]. We report the first case described in the literature of neuro-vascular conflict due to the subarcuate artery.
