Abstract
Television stands as one of the most visible contributions that engineers have made to twentieth-century life. This technology is at the heart of major shifts in public opinion, international politics and economics. It has become one of the leading media of information exchange in every country around the world. The history of television is instructive, because in many ways the development of TV was a precursor for later technologies such as semiconductors and computers. The paper discusses the history of television, including the great international TV standards wars, changing in broadcasting technologies, video recording in the television studio, color TV and new receiver technologies.
