Abstract

<h3>To the Editor.—</h3> Occasionally I am intrigued by<i>JAMA</i>'s cover and enjoy reading the brief description about the featured work of art. The cover of the November 11 issue, featuring a panel from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, was as striking a cover as I can remember. Needless to say, I was very disappointed to find no accompanying article, not even a brief comment. What an opportunity missed! We need to hear how tragic this war was. Those who died and even those who survived are the victims of one of our country's worst mistakes. Tens of thousands of young men were killed and many times more were physically and mentally maimed. And then there are their families. We must never allow a mistake like this to occur again. We should be told how breathtaking this memorial is in real life.
