Abstract

Viet Nam, with a population of 97 million, was one of the first countries to be hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. As of December 2020, it had suffered no more than 35 deaths and its response was described by the World Health Organisation as an example of good practice. This article, commissioned from the Vietnamese government, describes how popular mobilisation and engagement secured these results.
