Abstract

Almost every square inch of a casino is covered by video surveillance. The gaming floor is covered, but areas like stairwells and parking lots are also covered. These video recordings can capture slips and falls, assaults, car accidents, as well as cheating. These recordings can be important pieces of evidence in many kinds of lawsuits and criminal cases. Casino operators must take steps to ensure that their tapes are effective and available. Plaintiff attorneys and criminal defense attorneys must be aware of the existence of surveillance tapes and of their right to see them, discover them, and have them admitted into evidence at trial.
