Abstract
SummaryVideo laparoscopic hysterectomy is described. All the vascular pedicles are ligated and divided laparoscopi-cally, the uterus is excised, the vaginal cuff is closed and suspended, and reperitonealisation is performed via the laparoscope.Ten women had the operation with insertion of ‘interceed,’ an absorbable adhesion barrier. In one case a bladder incision was made intentionally, the bladder being fused with cervical-isthmus scars associated with previous caesarean sections. The bladder was repaired through the laparoscope. Nine of the patients were discharged within 24 hours, and none was readmitted. All the women resumed their normal physical activities and returned to work within 10 to 14 days; eight out of 10 resumed vaginal sexual intercourse after 3 weeks.
