Abstract
The following set of papers was created to celebrate and memorialize the contributions of Vic Velanovich, MD to the surgical literature and the practice of surgery. Dr. V or Vic, as he is affectionately called by his colleagues and trainees at the University of South Florida Dept. of Surgery, recently stepped down as Chief of General Surgery. During the course of his career, he has contributed in an exceptionally substantive fashion to the clinical literature. Dr. V's papers have an H-index of 27 (Web of Science, July 2021); his top ten cited first or senior authors papers are listed. In the articles that follow, we, as his admiring colleagues and trainees, celebrate and highlight Dr. V's contributions to medicine, surgery and health care.
