Abstract

AbstractPolarized absorption spectra of single crystals of diaquobismethoxyacetato Co(II) hare been measured at room and liquid nitrogen temperatures. The temperature dependence of oscillator strengths indicates that both vibronic and magnetic dipole transition mechanisms are operative. Selection rules within the C2t, point group permit assignment of major absorption peaks to transitions from a 4Bg ground state.
