Abstract

An electronic equipment was build, to measures and process vibration signals. The low level hardware contains Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and measures the vibration signals and makes some signal processing of low level complexity. The upper levels of the equipment use advanced signal processing hardware. The paper focuses on PLC part, hardware and software, and also describes the main signal processing methods. The advantages of the equipment, comparing with other available commercial solutions from market, are: the easy integration in the structure of other industrial control processes based on PLCs; the rapid implementation of advanced and - possible distributed - signal processing algorithms for change detection and diagnosis (CDD) purposes, with high level programming languages, e.g. Java; adaptability to various processes and CDD methods for testing.
