Abstract

In the present work we have investigated the vibroacoustic behaviour of a network of flexible cords excited by a harmonic force using the elementary wave equation and then by using an improved substitute source method, found classical parameters like the radiated power and the radiation factor. This is realized for a number of different configurations with water as the medium and nylon as the cord material. The results obtained here could hopefully serve as the first step towards estimating the noise generated by very large networks of cords, like a fishing net where a knowledge of sound generated by different gears is of utmost importance.
