Abstract
Vibrio cholerae, the causative agent of cholera epidemics, has long been of interest due to the fact that the disease is responsible for the deaths of more than 100,000 people every year. This organism is endemic to coastlines worldwide and during the past three decades, has caused disease in areas that have been free of cholera for almost a century. The recent progresses made in molecular biology and genomics has resulted in a large leap in our understanding of this important human pathogen and a major strength of this book is that it covers many diverse aspects of V. cholerae ecology, epidemiology, adaptation, and evolution.
