Abstract

The main excitations and characteristics of the hand-transmitted vibration of a walking tractor wereinvestigated, and a new type of vibration-isolating handle grip, which equipped with an anti-vibration device, wasdesigned. In accordance with ISO5349-1986(E)(ISO, 1986), the vibration-isolating effect of the new anti-vibration devicewas evaluated. The measured results showed that the vector sum of frequency weighted accelerations in three directionswas decreased by 41.1%, and the latency period before neuro-vascular disorders of the hands was prolonged from1.417 years to 3.209 years, if the daily exposure is 8 h and the risk of pathology appearance is 30%. The anti-vibrationdevice is of simple structure and good anti-vibration properties, and could be easily installed on existing walking tractors.
