Abstract

A Timoshenko-type theory of vibrations of circular cylindrical sandwich shells with honeycomb cores is presented in this paper. The free vibrations and the propagation of free harmonic waves in the axial direction of an infinitely long shell are studied. Numerical results are given for shells with radius-to-thickness ratios ranging from 10 to 120 and discussed in the light of previous works on homogeneous cylinders.
