Abstract

An exact solution of the title problem is probably out of the question. It is shown in the present study that a very simple solution can be obtained using simple polynomials and the Ritz method. The displacement amplitude is approximated in terms of a polynomial which identically satisfies the prescribed boundary conditions along the orthogonal edges but not along the corner cutout.
