Abstract

The synthesis of cis-1,2,3-trichlorocyclopropane is reported. The infrared spectra have been recorded between 4000 and 400 cm−1 in the polycrystalline solid phase, and between 4000 and 200 cm−1 in the gas phase. The spectrum of a solution in carbon disulphide was measured from 1400 to 400 cm−1. The Raman spectrum has been obtained between 4000 and 100 cm−1 in the solid phase. An assignment of the fundamentals of the title compound is proposed and compared with similar molecules. The spectrum unequivocally proves the CJV structure of the molecule.
