Abstract
The i.r. spectra of tetrahydrothiophene, -selenophene and -tellurophene as liquids and solids at 100K have been studied from 4000- to 250 cm −1. The Raman spectra of liquids have also been recorded and depolarization values have been measured. An assignment of the 33 fundamental vibrations for the 3 molecules is proposed based on depolarization values, dichroic behaviour and group-frequency correlations.
