Abstract

AbstractTo understand more about vibrational relaxation in liquids with rather strong intermolecular interactions, the Ramanband of the C = O‐stretching vibration of methyl ethyl ketone was measured in a temperature range from 233 to 343 K, and at 293 K in various solvents changing the concentration. — An interpretation for the behaviour of such polar bands in terms of dipole‐dipole interactions was evaluated in the frequency picture. This allows to explain, at least qualitatively, the variation of band shape parameters under different conditions.
