Abstract
Vibrational relaxation in CO+He in the temperature range from 100 to 300°K has been investigated by use of the WKB treatment of vibrational energy transfer with the inclusion of the effect of potential barrier penetration. The thermal average transition probability has been integrated numerically to obtain vibrational relaxation times. The calculated relaxation times agree satisfactorily with experiment over the temperature range considered.
