Abstract

Observations of the infrared fluorescence of liquid or solid CO following excitation by a frequency-doubled TEA CO 2 laser reveal a non-exponential decay curve for a pure CO sample. Vibrational relaxation and vibrational diffusion constants were determined by analysing these curves in the temperature range 66–79 K.
