Abstract

Crossed-beam experiments have been performed to measure differential cross sections (DCSs) for excitation of the vibrational modes associated with the ground electronic states of ethane and ethene. For ethane DCSs are reported for six incident electron energies in the range 3.2-15.4 eV, while for ethene the DCSs are reported at E0 = 8.0 eV and E0 = 15.5 eV. In all cases the scattered electron angular range is 30-140°. Where possible, the present results are compared against those from previous experiments.
