Abstract

A vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) system capable of microscopic scanning was developed. An intense infrared light from a quantum cascade laser was focused using two BaF2 lenses and passed through a pinhole of 0.1 mmϕ. A solid sample mounted on an automatic stage was scanned two-dimensionally with a spatial resolution of 100 µm in the wavenumber range of 1500–1740 cm−1. The feasibility of the system was validated by reproducing the authentic VCD peaks assigned to the amide I and II bands of a dipeptide, Gly-d-Leu.
